Charles Ede Ltd, established in 1971, is one of the oldest and best-known dealerships in Ancient Art. The gallery is located at No.1 Three Kings’ Yard in the heart of Mayfair, London’s historic art quarter.
The gallery offers highly provenanced and exceptional works of art from ancient Egypt, Greece, and the Roman Empire. Each year it publishes three catalogues featuring a wide selection of works and enjoys long-lasting friendships with some of the leading academics around the world.

Charles Ede is a member of the British Antique Dealers’ Association (BADA) and has board members on both the Antiquities Dealers’ Association (ADA) and the International Association of Dealers in Ancient Art (IADAA). It plays an active part in improving industry standards and furthering research.
The gallery exhibits at three art fairs: TEFAF Maastricht, TEFAF New York Spring, and TEFAF New York Autumn.
Clients include some of the world’s most important private collectors as well as major museums such as the British Museum, London; the Fitzwilliam in Cambridge; the Ashmolean, Oxford; The National Museum and Gallery of Wales, Cardiff; and the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh. European clients include the Musée du Louvre, Paris; the Antikenmuseum, Basel, the Staatliche Sammlung Ägyptischer Kunst, Munich; the Allard Pierson Museum, Amsterdam; the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, Leiden. American Museums include those in Boston, Houston; Cleveland, San Antonio, Toledo, Virginia, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Corning Museum of Glass, the University collections at Cornell, Princeton and Yale, as well as various museums in Australia.

Martin Clist, the Managing Director, studied Fine Art at University, completing his Post Graduate studies at the Slade School, London. He has worked in the art world for more than three decades in various sectors, initially with Nick Serota at the Whitechapel Gallery, before moving to commercial galleries dealing in contemporary and ancient art.
